1 lg. head lettuce, cleaned, washed but leaves in left in large pieces 2 hard boiled eggs, sliced 4-5 slices bacon

Fry bacon, drain and crumble. Make a cooked dressing of: 1/3 c. sugar 1/3 c. cider vinegar Salt and pepper to taste

Cook until this comes to a boil and thickens. To be authentic, cook this in bacon drippings. Pour dressing over lettuce; add sliced hard boiled eggs and crumbled bacon and toss. The hot dressing will wilt the lettuce. Serve immediately.
