- Makes 8 servings of apple pie.
Ingredients[]
- 1 ready to use pie crust
Streusel topping[]
- ½ cup flour
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- ½ cup chopped walnuts
- 1 tsp apple pie spice
- 3 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
Filling[]
- 6 Granny Smith apples
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tsp apple pie spice
Garnish[]
Directions[]
- Line 9 inch pie plate with pie crust as package directs.
- Flute or crimp edges.
Streusel topping[]
- Mix flour, sugar, walnuts and pie spice in a bowl.
- Rub in butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs that clump.
Filling[]
- Peel and core apples.
- Cut in slices.
- Place in a bowl, add lemon juice and toss to coat.
- Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl, sprinkle over apple slices and toss to coat.
Assembly[]
- Heat oven to 450°F.
- Layer apple slices in pie shell. Pat and press the topping mixture over apples to form a top crust.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
- Reduce oven temp to 350°F.
- Loosely cover pie with foil. Bake for 45 minutes.
- Longer or until topping is golden brown.
- To serve warm, cool for about ½ hour. Dust with confectioners' sugar.
- Goes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
