  • Makes 8 servings of apple pie.

  • 1 ready to use pie crust

Directions[]

  1. Line 9 inch pie plate with pie crust as package directs.
  2. Flute or crimp edges.

Streusel topping[]

  1. Mix flour, sugar, walnuts and pie spice in a bowl.
  2. Rub in butter until mixture forms coarse crumbs that clump.

Filling[]

  1. Peel and core apples.
  2. Cut in slices.
  3. Place in a bowl, add lemon juice and toss to coat.
  4. Mix remaining ingredients in a bowl, sprinkle over apple slices and toss to coat.

Assembly[]

  1. Heat oven to 450°F.
  2. Layer apple slices in pie shell. Pat and press the topping mixture over apples to form a top crust.
  3. Bake for 15 minutes.
  4. Reduce oven temp to 350°F.
  5. Loosely cover pie with foil. Bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Longer or until topping is golden brown.
  7. To serve warm, cool for about ½ hour. Dust with confectioners' sugar.
  8. Goes great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
