4 cups powdered sugar or granulated sugar 3 vanilla beans
Cut vanilla bean in half, then slit down middle, exposing seeds. Put sugar and bean halves into glass jar with a tight fitting lid, being sure beans are completely covered. Store in a cool dry place. Powdered vanilla sugar can be used for the basis for cake frosting. Granulated vanilla sugar is ideal for flavoring puddings and pie fillings or in coffee or tea. Will keep indefinitely. Hint: Vanilla beans keep their flavor for a long time, so replenish sugar as it is used, shaking container to remix well. Makes 4 cups. Source: My Old Recipes
