Vanilla Sauce

1 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1 T. cornstarch 2 T. butter 2 t. vanilla extract Pinch of salt

Bring water to a boil in a small pan. Combine sugar and cornstarch; stir well. Add sugar mixture to boiling water. Reduce heat to medium, stirring constantly, or until mixture thickens. Remove from heat; add butter, vanilla and salt. Stir until butter melts. Makes 3/4 cup Serve over pound cake or angel food cake or sliced fruits.
