Step aside, Rainbow Bagels! You, Galaxy Cakes, and the Starbucks "Pink Drink" are so 2016. Recently, the Fandom Lifestyles team ate their way through the Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco, the largest specialty food show on the West Coast.
We're showing you the food and drink trends that impressed us the most, so make room in your pantry (and your stomach) for what 2017 has to offer!
Can you eat your beer? In 2017, you can! We taste-tested everything from beer-flavored salsa to chocolate. Highlights include Mrs. Renfro's Craft Beer Salsa, Colorado Mountain Jam Beer Belly Jelly, and Guinness Chocolate Mini-Pints.
The food industry is still obsessed with coconut, and so are we! Oil, water, or sweetener, coconut is a top food trend that's here to stay. Favorites from the Fancy Food Show include FAGE Crossovers™ Yogurt, CC Made Vegan Coconut Cream Caramel Sauce, Dick Taylor Chocolate Maple Coconut Bar, and the award-winning Organic Coconut Chips from Creative Snacks Co.
As an adult and an avid IHOP fan, breakfast for dinner is completely acceptable. But dessert?! Now you can have your cereal in ice cream sandwich form, like the latest flavor from Coolhaus. Or maybe breakfast chocolate bars are more your style? We sampled Chuao's Strawberry Waffle Wild Bar and Cinnamon Cereal Smooch Bar, and we're happy to say that Chuao never disappoints.
While the Fandom Lifestyles team tried to cover the entirety of the Fancy Food Show, there was just too much out there. Here are some other standouts we came across:
- Kuromaro M-Farm Tomato Sauce (made with black garlic). We're making all our pasta dishes with this sauce from here on out!
- We're big fans of Edison Grainery and their Organic Quinoa Mac & Cheese. (Bonus: They're gluten-free!)
- Cello Whisps Cheese Crisps are our favorite new snack! They come in cheddar and parmesan, and are made with 100% pure cheese, which makes polishing off a whole bag slightly guilt-free?
