  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet and add the sliced onions.
  2. Sauté over low heat until browned, soft, and caramelized.
  3. Season with the salt and pepper.
  4. Stir in the hot mustard.
  5. Set aside.
  6. On a grill, cook the sausages, basting with beer every few minutes.
  7. Serve the grilled brats with the caramelized onions.
