  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate pieces
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/3 cup chocolate-covered toffee pieces

Directions Edit

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds.
  3. Add the brown sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  4. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally.
  5. Beat in flour and salt until combined.
  6. Spread dough evenly in an ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  7. Bake for about 15 minutes or until edges begin to brown and surface is dry.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with chocolate pieces.
  9. Let stand about 2 minutes or until chocolate is softened; spread evenly.
  10. Sprinkle with walnuts and toffee pieces.
  11. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 30 minutes.
  12. Cut into bars.
