Today's preparation is Split Pea Soup. Good comfort food for cool weather.
Split pea soup.
1 lb dried split peas, soaked. 2 carrots, chopped 3 cloves garlic, chopped 2 stalks celery, chopped. 1 small onion, chopped 2 tbsp bacon bits
2 cups chicken stock 3 cups water.
Soak the split peas in the water. Coarsely chop all the other veggies, then run them through a food processor, to smooth them out.
Put all the ingredients into a slow cooker, bring to a boil, then simmer till the consistency is right.
Possible seasonings include Sage, Marjoram, Thyme, bay leaves, black pepper, and salt. Season to taste.
