Spicy Red Wine
6 cinnamon sticks, broken into pieces 6 whole cloves 6 whole allspice 2 cups water 1 cup sugar 2 lemons, sliced 2 oranges, sliced 1 bottle red wine (1.5 liters)
Place cinnamon sticks, cloves, and allspice in a small square of cheesecloth; tie with kitchen string. In a non aluminum pan, combine water, sugar, lemon slices and orange slices. Stirring occasionally, cook over medium low heat until sugar dissolves. Add spice bundle and wine; cook 5 minutes. Transfer mixture to a heatproof glass container. Let stand at room temperature overnight to let flavors blend. Strain wine into a gift bottle. Store in refrigerator. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Makes about 8 cups wine. Source: Unknown
