Spiced Bread Pudding
2 cups dry bread crumbs 4 cups milk, scalded 3/4 cup sugar 1 T. butter 1/4 t. salt 1/8 t. nutmeg 1/2 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. ginger 4 eggs, lightly beaten 2 t. vanilla 1/4 cup raisins
Soak bread in milk for 5 minutes. Add sugar, butter, salt, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Pour slowly over eggs. Add vanilla and raisins, mix well. Pour into buttered 1 1/2 quart casserole or baking dish. Bake in a pan of hot water in a 350 oven for one hour, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
