Sour cherry brandy

- 9 lbs/4 kg sour cherries,
- 6 lbs/3 kg Sugar,
- 1/2 qt/0,5 l vodka,
- 1/2 qt/ o,5 l rum,
- 1/2 stick vanilla

- Choose nice, plump sour cherries.
- Remove the stems.
- Take a 5-6 qt glass jar with a larger opening.
- Place a layer of sour cherries, a layer of Sugar, alternating between the two and taking care that the last layer is Sugar.
- Add vanilla, vodka, rum and cover the opening with cellophane or parchment paper.
- Place in a sunny place.
- Keep for 3-4 weeks, shaking the jar every 2-3 days.
- Serve with or without the sour cherries.
