Simmerin' Swiss Steak

1 1/2 pounds beef cubed steaks 1/2 t. salt 1/2 t. pepper 1/2 cup flour 3 T. vegetable oil 1 medium onion, chopped 1 can Italian style diced tomatoes, undrained (28 oz)

Season the cube steaks with the salt and pepper. Dip the steaks in the flour, coating completely. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add half of the steaks and cook for 2 to 3 minute per side, or until browned. Remove the steaks to a platter and cook the remaining steaks. Return all the steaks to the skillet and add the remaining ingredients. Cook over low heat for 18 to 20 minutes or until sauce is thickened and meat is tender, stirring occasionally. Serve steaks topped with the sauce from the pan. Note: Serve with spaetzle if desired or just boil up a batch of ready made wide noodles. Source: Unknown
