SALISBURY RICE - A GRANDPA ORIGINAL
Local Sav-A-Lot has Banquet Salisbury Steak dinner for 89 cents.
Pkg is 24 oz and has 6 patties plus delicious brown gravy. I
took my recipe to covered dish and several ladies had seconds.
1 cup long grain rice
3 cups water
1 24 oz Banquet Salisbury Steak Diner
1 cup onion, chopped fine
� cup bell pepper, chopped fine
� cup peanut oil
� tsp beef boillon granules
1 16 oz can small green peas.
Let Salisbury Steak come to room temperature. Cut the steaks
into fine pieces. Drain peas and put liquid in 2 qt pot along
with rice, water and bouillon granules and bring to a rolling
boil. Cover, turn off heat and leave pot on hot burner.
Meanwhile put oil in skillet over medium heat. Chop onion &
pepper and saute. Add peas, Salisbury steak and its gravy.
Check to see if rice has absorbed all liquid. If not, bring to a
rolling boil again and let set covered for about 15 minutes.
Combine rice with contents of skillet. and serve. Makes 8
