Red German Cabbage

4 pounds red cabbage, sliced thin 2 large onions, sliced 2 tart apples, sliced Salt to taste Pepper to taste 1/2 cup water 1/4 cup oil or bacon fat 1 t. caraway seeds, optional

Put all ingredients in large cooking or crock pot. Cook on low heat for at least 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Source: Vera Sanders
