Begin a meal with Pe Chan Gyaw (Split-pea), an authentic Burmese recipe.
- 5 tablespoons rice flour
- 500 ml (2 cups) water
- 100g (1/2 cup) dried yellow split-Peas
- 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 250 ml (1 cup) oil for deep frying
Soak the split-Peas overnight. The next day, mix the rice flour and water, then add and stir in the split-Peas and salt. In a saucepan or wok, heat the oil for deep-frying. Using a spoon, scoop into the mixture and drop it in the pan. Drop several scoops and deep-fry them until they turn crisp. Drain on absorbent paper and let cool before serving.
