Never Fail Gingerbread
1/2 cup melted shortening 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup sugar 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 cup molasses 1 1/2 teaspoons ginger 1 cup boiling water
Combine the shortening, sugar and molasses. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the water, beating until smooth. Bake in a 9-inch pan or cast iron skillet at 350 degrees until cake springs back when touched, about 30 to 40 minutes.
