Mrs. Parson's Cabbage

1 medium head cabbage 1 T. salt 1/4 t. pepper 5 slices bacon, Butter for saut�ing 1/4 lb. butter

Quarter cabbage; put into a 4 quart pot. Fill pot 3/4 full with water. Add salt and pepper. Bring to boil. Cover. Simmer for 1 hour. Meanwhile, chop bacon. Saute in a little bit of butter. When cabbage is cooked, strain it and add the saut�ed bacon and butter. Blend ingredients together by hand and turn into casserole dish. Put in warm oven until ready to serve.
