  1. Mix together cream, sugar, and gelatin in a saucepan and heat gently until the gelatin is thoroughly dissolved.
  2. Cool until slightly thickened. Fold or mix with the sour cream and flavor with vanilla.
  3. Whisk until mixture is quite smooth.
  4. Pour mixture into a serving bowl or 3 cup metal mold.
  5. If you want to make individual servings, pour into six small ½ cup individual molds.
  6. Cover and chill until set, at least 4 hours or above.
  7. Unmold by dipping the container in hot water until edges start to melt.
  8. Invert the mold onto a serving dish and surround with fruit. Serve cold and plain or with other desserts.
