April, do you remember why there is 1/2 cup of water listed twice on this recipe? This recipe must be at least 40 years old and I haven't made it for a long time.

Linda's Barbecued Beef

2 1/2 to 3 pounds chuck roast

1/2 cp water

1 large onion, chopped

3 tbs shortening

2 tbs vinegar

2 tbs lemon juice

1 cp catsup

1 1/2 tbs Worcestershire Sauce

1/2 cp brown sugar

1 tb prepared mustard

1/2 cp water

1 tsp salt

dash pepper

1/2 cp diced celery

Melt shortening. Combine all other ingredients and pour over meat. Bake at 350 degrees for 3 to 4 hours in a covered baking pan. Cool.

Remove meat and shred with a fork or your fingers.

Place meat back into the sauce. Cover and bake for 1 more hour. Enjoy.
