Kashmiri chiles are mild, very red chiles, and in India (and the rest of the world) the ones that are supplied come from the state of Karnataka, in southern India. That chilli is known as byadgi chilli, named after the town of Byadgi in the Hubli district of Karnataka, although they are grown in a few other states of India.
