Inga's Version: 2 c. raisins 2 c. boiling water 4 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 c. oil 4 c. flour

Soak raisins in boiling water. Add baking powder and stir. Let stand overnight or 5 to 6 hours, covered. Add sugar, salt, oil and flour. Grease 3 small coffee cans and fill halfway. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Walnuts may replace the raisins.

Opal's Version: 1 1/2 c. raisins 2 c. hot water 3 tsp. soda 3/4 c. brown sugar 3/4 c. white sugar 1/4 c. oil 1/2 tsp. salt 3 c. flour 2 Tbsp. vanilla 1/2 c. chopped nuts Soak raisins in hot water and soda all night. Drain. Add sugars, oil, salt, flour, vanilla and nuts. Mix well. Grease and flour 3 (1 pound) coffee cans. Divide mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Let stand in cans for 1 hour before removing.
