Frigate Mackerel or Leadenal as they are sometimes known are a top little sport fish. Frigate Mackerel does not often weigh in at more than 1.5 kilos they put up an excellent fight on very light tackle. The Frigate mackerel is a coastal and oceanic pelagic schooling species that is seasonal. It is found in all Mexican waters. This fish make part of the genus Scomber. They are finely formed and very active oceanic fishes. The common mackerel which can be as well named Scomber scombrus, whichinhabits both sides of the North Atlantic, is one of the most important food fishes. It is mottled with green and blue. The Spanish mackerel also spelled Scomberomorus maculatus, of the American coast, is covered with bright yellow circular spots. Frigate mackerel are as well recognized as frigate tuna and they look more like a tuna than a mackerel. The Frigate Tuna or Frigate Mackerel is a small torpedo-shaped fish characterized by its body that is possibly the most aerodynamic of the tunas, a dark blue metallic back with fifteen or more narrow oblique wavy lines above the lateral line that commence under the first dorsal fin, and a white belly. Frigate mackerel has a very small second dorsal fin that is followed by eight finlets.
