Trenette or trenne is a type of pasta. It is made from a hollow cylinder 2¼ to 2½ inches in length which is folded a little, in order to make a triangle. Trenne is a little larger than trenette, otherwise they are the same.
Trenne is used with heavy sauces and is good in casseroles. If not available substitute penne, trennette, or ziti.
