  1. In a large sauce pan, sauté onions in oil until tender.
  2. Add the tomato juice, water, basil, oregano, sugar and celery salt.
  3. Bring to a boil.
  4. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the tomatoes; cook 10 minutes longer.
