Description
The international alternative to the brown sauce - you can make this with cream, garlic powder, and onion soup while serving as a dip and/or with other chicken-fried dishes.
Ingredients
Gravy
- 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 3 tbsp. butter
- 2 tbsp. onion soup mix
- ¼ tsp. thyme
- ¼ tsp. garlic powder
- 1 recipe white sauce (below)
White sauce
- 1 tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. flour
- 1 tsp. lemon pepper
- 1 cup nonfat milk
Directions
Gravy
- Mix all ingredients and heat until the soup mix is well dissolved and onions are limp from the soup mix.
- If sauce becomes too thick, add a little non-fat milk.
White sauce
- Place flour in a small saucepan and cook until toasted, but not browned. Stir constantly.
- Add cornstarch, lemon pepper and milk.
- Continue cooking, and stirring until thickened.
For the main mixture
- Pour the cooked gravy on the white sauce mixture.
- Stir the combined, cooked gravy and white sauce while cooking. Serve warm then pair this homemade gravy with other main dishes.
