  1. Cream sugar and butter together.
  2. Add the beaten eggs and sifted flour.
  3. Spoon into an 8 x 8 or 9 x 9 square or round pan.
  4. Bake at 400 °F for 50 minutes.
  5. Bring lemon juice and icing sugar to a boil.
  6. Pour the hot lemon mixture over the cake when you remove the cake from the oven.
  7. Cool in pan.
