  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Spray an 8x8 inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt.
  4. In a medium bowl, with an electric mixer at medium speed,beat the sugar and margarine together until fluffy, 2 minutes.
  5. Beat in the egg and milk until smooth, 1 minute.
  6. Add the flour mixture to the margarine mixture in thirds, beating until smooth, 2 minutes.
  7. With a large spoon, stir in the apples until evenly distributed.
  8. Spread the batter in the prepared baking pan.
  9. In a small bowl, combine the sugar and cinnamon, then sprinkle evenly on the batter.
  10. Bake until browned and the sides start to pull away from the pan 40 – 45 minutes.
