Butter Cream Frosting:

  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  3. Stir together cocoa and water in small bowl until smooth.
  4. Beat shortening, Sugar and vanilla in large bowl until fluffy.
  5. Add eggs; beat well.
  6. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; add to shortening mixture alternately with buttermilk, beating until well
  7. blended.
  8. Add cocoa mixture; beat well.
  9. Pour batter into prepared pans.
  10. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
  11. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks.
  12. Cool completely.
  14. To sour milk: Use 4 teaspoons white vinegar plus milk to equal 1-1/3 cups.
Buttercream Frosting: Edit
  1. Beat butter in small bowl.
  2. Add powdered sugar and cocoa alternately with milk; beat to spreading consistency.
  3. Stir in vanilla.
  4. About 2 cups frosting.
