Chocolate Cobbler yield 8 servings preparation:10 minutes Bake: 40 minutes 1&1/4 cups sugar, divided 1cup all purpose flour ( I used self rising) 7 tablespoons cocoa, didided 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup milk 1/3 cup butter, melted 1 & 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1 & 1/2 cups hot water Garnish: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream
preheat oven to 350 In a bowl,stir together 3/4 cup sugar, flour,3tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk, butter, and vanilla; mix until smooth. Pour batter into an ungreased, 8-inch-square, glass baking pan. Stir together remaining 1/2cup sugar,brown sugar, and remaining 4 tablespoons cocoa. sprinkle cocoa mixture evenly over batter. pour hot water over top--do not stir! Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until center of cobbler is almost set. let stand for 15 minutes. Spooninto individual dessert dishes. The cobbler makes its own sauce in the bottom of the pan. spoon sauce over each serving. Garnish with ice cream or whipped cream.
