  1. Melt caramels with ⅓ cup milk in the microwave.
  2. Stir until smooth.
  3. Combine remaining milk, cake mix and margarine.
  4. Mix well.
  5. Press half of cake mixture into the bottom of a greased 13 x 9 baking pan.
  6. Bake 350°F for 6 minutes.
  7. Sprinkle with 1 cup walnuts and chocolate pieces.
  8. Spread caramel mixture to the edges of the pan.
  9. Top with teaspoonfuls of remaining cake mixture.
  10. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts - press lightly into the top.
  11. Bake for 350°F for 20 minutes.
  12. Cool slightly; cut into bars.
