The meat pie is a regular snack and it is called in Uruguay pastel de carne. The recipe includes dough and a filling. The dough is made of melted butter, both milk and water, vinegar and all-purpose flour and the filling is prepared with chopped onions, butter or margarine, ground, lean beef, chopped tomatoes, cayenne or black pepper, beaten eggs on top and surprisingly, raisins. Provoletta is also an Italian inspired dish, it can be consumed as lunch, snack or appetizer and it contains provolone cheese in olive oil and topped with seasonings. The famous chimichurri sauce, with olive oil, vinegar, salt, crushed garlic, minced parsley, cumin, paprika, chili powder, oregano, crushed bay leaves, bell pepper, onion and peeled and chopped tomatoes is served on almost anything. All the specific Uruguayan sandwiches with beef meat, lettuce, bacon, eggs, cheese and tomatoes are some of the most consumed Uruguayan snacks.
