If you are a vegetarian, Thai food is the ideal meal for you. There are a large variety of dishes that don’t include meat at all. The Red curry (Gaeng Pet = 'hot curry') (Thai แกงเผ็ด) is the most popular kind of curry, and represents a great basis for a vegetarian meal.

Another vegetarian alternative is the famous Jasmine rice. It can only be found in Thailand, and special Thai dishes include a large variety of sauces that go well with this rice. Chili seems to be a major condiment used for the preparation of all kind of curry sauces and salads, and the Thai basil is one of the marks needed to give the specific southern Thai-food flavor.
