Slovakia distinguishes from the other European countries mostly through its wine. This country has a history in this domain that lasts for more than 13 centuries. More than thirteen white grapes varieties (Rulandske Biele, Devin, Palava, Sauvignon Blanc, Tramin, Chardonnay, Muller Thurgau, Rizling Rynsky, Rizling Vlassky) and four red grapes types (Frakovka Modra, Svatovavrinecke, Alibernet and Neronet, Rulandske Modre) are used to produce enjoyable wines. The wine that is known under the name Tokaj has a great reputation all over the world, even since the 17th century. Originally, it is produced in Hungary, but the variety that comes from Slovakia has the same quality and most of the times, it has a lower price. Beer is also popular in Slovakia, as the country counts more than nine brands. Other beverages are non-alcoholic and are made from fruits, such as grapes or berries. Coffee has its own fame in Slovakia. Some of the coffee recipes, as well as the Coffee Houses are inspired from those that exist in Austria.
