The Slovakians do not consider that the appetizers should have an important role in their cuisine, due to the fact that most of the foods have a great consistency and one more dish may harden the digestion. However, there exist some appetizer recipes in the Slovakian cuisine. Some of the dishes are inspired by the surrounding countries. An example in this case would be the Austrian Schnitzel, which is sometimes used as Appetizer in Slovakia. Other appetizers are based on mixes of meat and cheese. Bryndza is the name given to a sortiment of sheep cheese that is the ingredient of some appetizers.
