The Salvadorian snacks different in ingredients and preparation methods, but the most common ones are different kinds of tortillas. The pupusa is one of these tortillas, made with cheese filling, beans or even pork rinds. The snack is also consumed with spicy cabbage and a hot dip. Another favorite snack is the pastelas, which also consists in a dough (corn flour dough), with a meat stuffing – all these fried in vegetable oil. Salvadorian rice pilaf, cornucopia chili (with honey, kidney beans, cumin, cayenne and tomatoes), renellos or pasta poblano (with a puree made of onions, garlic and heavy cream) are other loved snacks.
