As long as one knows what the most popular Panamanian ingredients are, it is quite easy to prepare a Panamanian snack any time you like. The most common snacks are patacones, which means fried plantain pressed, deep fried and salted; fried yucca which is considered to be a tropical version of the potato; platano maduro, sweet ripe plantains sautéed in oil which can be prepared in a carmelized sugar sauce and added nutmeg and cinnamon. Another tasty snack is carimanola, a roll made with dought and stuffed with boiled eggs and meat. No matter what, the Panamanians never give up preparing their most popular dish which is represented by arroz con guandu, a rice dish cooked with guandu, an African bean that offers a real subtle flavor, especially if coconut water is added. Also, add some dick cheese for extra spices.
