In Maldives cuisine there are found a variety of traditional recipes such as: Kulhi Boakibaa made with rice, soaked in water for at least one night, mixed with vaihoamas, onions, chili, ginger and coconut. The resulted mixture is pressed and placed in a baking dish filled with grease. It is baked and cut into squares. Another traditional dish is Gulha which is actually fish balls made by combining vaihoamas with coconut, onions, chili, ginger and limejuice. Foni Boakibaa is a sweet dessert made with coconut rice flour, water, sugar and rose water. It is baked and cut into squares. Other dessert recipes include Huni Foihi and Dhiyaa Hakuru, made with sap, honey, pre-cooked rice and bananas.
