There are many foods that can be consumed as snacks in the Laotian cuisine. Dumplings are simply prepared steamed, with sugar, flour and oil or filled (jiaozy or pot sticker – shallow fried) with various aliments, including red beans, crabs with peanuts roast or minced pork meat with rice wine. Rice can be prepared as nem, or Lao fried rice, which is consumed with som moo, som pa or som khai pa, which are all pickled meats. A traditional Chinese snack, found in the Laotian cuisine is the chicken toast, which is spiced up with a consistent amount of chili, just like the fried rice.
