The Guyanese soups are consistent meals, which include one or more types of meat. The wanton soup is made of wanton skins, meat like pork or chicken (in strips), bok choy, celery, carrot or pumpkin, black pepper, chicken stock, soy sauce and vetsin. The soup also has a filling, made of beef, chicken or pork, eggs and pepper. The split pea soups contain bone or bacon straps, animal fat, split peas, chicken stock, yam or eddoes and pepper. The pumpkin soup has a sweeter taste and it includes milk, sugar, chicken broth, curry powder, chopped onions, pumpkin, green onions and nutmeg.
