Even though the Guatemalan cuisine is bean based, ground beef is usually combine with beans, in variety of burritos, chiles rellenos (chilies stuffed with meat) and Taquitos (Stuffed, rolled and fried tortillas).Beef can also be used in many other occasions, such as Carne Adobada (Beef simmered in tomato-tomatillo sauce), hilachas (shredded beef in red sauce), or Salpicon (Chopped beef with sour orange, cilantro & onion).

If you prefer pork, you can have the Chuchitos, which are basically cornmeal dumplings with pork. As appetizers, there are some cold cuts served before dinner, called Fiambre Tradicional. Chicken meat is commonly used as well in the Guatemalan cuisine. Guatemalan chicken in tomatillo-cilantro sauce, Arroz con Pollo Chapina (Guatemalan chicken with rice), and Pollo en Pipian (Chicken in tomato-pumpkin seed sauce) are some of the chicken delicatessen prepared by people in this country.

Fish can be served as well, in combination with rice or vegetables, and the most used recipe is the Citrus-marinated fish, called Ceviche seafood.
