Having a complex culinary culture Gambian cuisine has many recipes and various dishes. most of the recipes have special ingredients either picked from their own lands or imported from other countries cuisine. Here are some of the most famos dishes in the Gambia :
- Chicken Yassa- a specific Gambia dish made with chicken and lemon juice, mustard, vinegar, minced garlic, black pepper, scotch bonnet pepper or sweet pepper. At the end this dish goes better served with rice, ciliantro, chopped lettuce and veg. (We do not put curry in this dish or in Superkanja, infact we do not use curry in most Gambian dishes)
- Chakery- another specific Gambian dish very easy to prepare. All that one needs is some vanilla yogurt, sour cream, crushed pineapple, evaporated milk and vanilla flavoring. This dish can be served both as a dessert and as an appetizer.
