Coffee is very popular in Eritrea and it is always made by the women. The coffee named “bun” is sweetened with sugar or honey. Coffee can also be served with ginger or black pepper. The national alcoholic beverages are the so called suwa, a delicious light beer; alaki, a liqueur similar to ouzo and a honey wine called meise. Along with espresso, tea is also very popular and it is served with a lot of sugar. There are many juices made by blending fruits like mango, bananas or papaya but these juices are more commonly served in the big cities.
