The Bulgarians have created many salads that are supposed to be served along with the meat dishes. A great variety of ingredients are used in Bulgaria to prepare salads. Of course, most of these ingredients are vegetables. One of the most important salads is shopska, which is made from tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, onions and feta cheese. Other two Bulgarian salads are: Ovcharska and Selska. These two are known to have a better taste, although they are less famous. Some of the Bulgarian alcoholic beverages are that strong that the local people only consume them while eating salad. Therefore, the salad seem to decrease the effect of these drinks.
