Situated in the monsoon-drenched east coast of India, Bangladeshi food means rice and fish. Bangladesh spicing is somewhat different however from the rest of India.
When planning an authentic Bangladeshi meal, keep in mind the course sequence of the food being served. Start the course with fried bitter gourd or fried neem leaves. Follow with shaak (leafy vegetable). This is followed by a dal. The next course is the fish course. Then comes the meat (meat: (including mutton, bird, or snails). Rice remains common through out the meal until the last course. Bring on the chutney!
