A cake dessert that is traditionally topped with berries. Originally, buckle was made as a single layer cake topped with blueberries. However, over the years a variety of berries, fruits and toppings have been added to make different versions of this cake dessert. It is often made with blueberries and another fruit combined into the cake that is topped with a crusty sugar coating.
A cake laced with fresh fruit, sometimes covered with a crumbly-sweet topping. Serve with whipped cream. Usually baked in a round or rectangular baking pan about 2 inches deep.
