This is a recipe I obtained from an Estate sale. I obtained it when I purchased the family collection from the Michel Estate in Terrell, Texas in 1996.

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Generously grease a tube pan and dust lightly with flour.
  3. Blend flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, baking soda, butter, vanilla and eggs together.
  4. Beat until moistened then beat an additional 3 minutes.
  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 60 minutes.
  6. In a small saucepan combine butter, sugar, water and vanilla and heat until butter melts.
  7. Do not boil.
  8. When cake is cooked remove from oven and pierce hot cake 10 to 12 times.
  9. Slowly pour hot butter sauce over cake then cool in pan 40 minutes.
  10. Remove from pan and serve.
